Biden is smooth, and if his past history of exaggeration and plagiarism are any indication of what we can expect from him through the duration of the campaign, we need to keep a close watch on his claims.  During the debate he frequently prefaced his comments by saying, "The facts...".  Well Mr. Biden plays fairly loose and free with the "facts" most of the time, but one stuck out at me particularly as not just a mis-statement, or a exaggeration, but an out right lie.  "Now, Tony how can you get off calling Joe Biden a liar?" you ask?

Just for the record, in a Democratic debate on July 23, 2007, Obama was asked whether he would be “willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?” Obama answered, “I would.” Any reasonable reading of that would say that Obama pledged to meet the leader of Iran — be it Ahmadinejad or someone else — without precondition. On another occasion, Obama said it specifically with reference to Ahmadinejad. (here is the video of that exchange with Hillary Clinton's answer as well)

"Now Tony, how can you use a quote from Barack Hussein Obama to prove that Joe Biden is a liar?" you gently prod.

In this last week's Vice Presidential Debate, Mr. Biden vehemently protested that Barack had ever said such a thing. Suggesting instead that everyone knows that the President of Iran is not the "leader of the security apparatus" in Iran as some kind of loop whole for Obama. 

"How Tony, maybe that is how Obama explained it to Biden," you protest.

Well, interestingly enough.. .Joe Biden was debating Barack Hussein Obama when he answered that question and irrefutably knew what Obama said and what he meant because Hillary got a chance to answer and disagreed with Obama.  Oddly (or luckily) enough Biden's answer is no where to be found...  So to here Joe Biden a)blatantly mis-represent the statement  b)try to squirm out of it with an obscure "security apparatus" reference and c) look the American people in the eye while doing both is all I need to brand him a liar.
