The world has a rich and vibrant history of political, religious and idealogical propaganda. It would be safe to say that certain aesthetic attributes and practical implementations of twentieth century propaganda are making a comeback with the candidacy of Barack Obama.
During the Third Reich the youth of Germany was indoctrinated with the Nazi message through a wide range of posters, children's books, rallys, sing-along songs and magazines specifically tailored and "age appropriate" for the audience. The primary reason for this tactic was to enlist the youth of the country in the broader causes of Nazi Germany and to build a nationalistic fervor at an early age to assure future loyalty to the state.
This is an alphabet book from Nazi Germany that shows Hitler Youth and marching soldiers waiving banners and flags.
This is Barack Obama's "Son of Promise, Child of Hope" book. The cover shows Obama in a messianic pose with rays of light and out stretch hands...
To be fair, Meghan McCain, also has a children's book about her dad too. "My Dad, John McCain" which has much more americana / Normal Rockwell-like cover-art.
In the 1940s and 1950s "progressive" was a euphemism used by American Communists to disguise their real agendas from mainstream America. Modern leftists, like Barack Obama, use the same term to mask their quasi-Marxist agendas from the American public. Why? because most people in America are opposed to Marxism and socialism, but who in their right mind would be opposed to "Progress"?

Some propaganda portrays Obama in images that recall religious iconography. Many official images show Obama with a halo, or in a traditional "saint-like" pose.
Finally, the clincher for me was Obama's "Sign of Progress"
Eerily similar to another charismatic leader who captivated a country nearly 80 years ago: Adolph Hitler.
The above photograph captures Hitler's sign of the unity of the National Socialist and socialist ideas.
There are many more examples of similar aesthetic ideals represented in the Obama campaign that harken back to darker times. I find it very odd that the Soviet, Nazi and Maoist artistic aesthetics would find a home in the campaign of a self-described "moderate" candidate for president. Is there something darker behind the charismatic rise of Barack Obama? If the calls for "truth squads", "spreading the wealth around" and "economic fairness" don't sound familiar to the American Political scene that is because they all find their roots in forgein soil, amongst despotic and totalitarian regimes.

Propaganda is all around us....the McDonald's cup with "I Love It" in several languages. The VISA commercial where everyone move like automatons until someone shows up with a checkbook or cash and destroys the whole process and denies the bank it's 2.9%.....plastic good....cash bad. I think we haven't seen anything yet. There are really bad times coming.
