Discussion Weekends - Taxes and Fairness

Happy November First gentle reader!  I want to thank those of you who that stuck with Tony's Truth through our first whole month of publication. We are averaging over 100 readers per day with a few big traffic days when our topic intersects with the news of the day. I have received some very nice input from many of you, and some bizarre feedback as well that I would not subject even a seasoned Navy man too.  I have learned quite a bit about publishing a daily blog and sincerely appreciate your patience and support.

I have decided to try something different for the weekends starting today.  I will be posting a question relevant to the weeks news for you to consider and share your opinion on.   There will only be a few rules to make this a valuable experience and a poignant exchange of ideas (and ideals):

  1. Be respectful.  No name calling, baseless ridicule or belittling of another's responses.
  2. Make all your points with statements of fact or personal experience. No emotional pleas, hyperbole or party talking points.
  3. Answer only the question posed, don't lead the discussion down rabbit trails and dead ends.
  4. Cite your sources when you quote them.

The Question for the weekend of November 1st, 2008:

What is unfair about the United States current tax structure, what would make it more fair and why?

I am looking forward to your answers!  Note for the first few weeks I will moderate the answers to make sure that there is no profanity, insults or spam posts.   After that if things go well, it will be a discussion free-for-all.
