Hillary Clinton gets the nodd - Washington Insider with no experience for the post

Frankly, while everyone was reporting it, I was very doubtful that Hillary would get the State job. Bill Clinton's business deals and global charitable endeavors were expected to create problems for the former first lady's nomination. But in negotiations with the Obama transition team, the former president agreed to several measures designed to bring transparency to his post-presidential work, including:

-- to volunteer to step away from day-to-day management of the foundation while his wife is secretary of state.

-- to submit his speaking schedule to review by the State Department and White House counsel.

-- to submit any new sources of income to a similar ethical review.

So transparency comes at last to Bill Clinton's post-presidential finances.  That should at least be interesting, but begs the question, why not sooner?  Guess we will really never know.

The bigger question, is why Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State? She is massively under qualified for the post.  In the Senate, Clinton, a first term junior senator, served on the Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Environment and Public Works and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.  Not much on the foreign policy arena.  There are dozens of more qualified individuals for the post.  I think this is a massive political gamble for Obama.  (He is taking the keep your enemies close business fairly seriously!)

Clinton also continuously chided Obama for his lack of experience and naive ideas of meeting with foreign leaders without pre-conditions. Wonder if that will have to change now?  Will she jump on the band wagon and enthusiastically support the foreign policy initiatives she once called irresponsible?

Bigger question for me, will Hillary be a team player or parlay this wonderful opportunity into fresh political capital for herself?
