Obama to gut "Faith Based" Initaitives?

Obama said the following at the National Prayer Breakfast:

"The goal of this office will not be to favor one religious group over another -- or even religious groups over secular groups," Obama said. "It will simply be to work on behalf of those organizations that want to work on behalf of our communities, and to do so without blurring the line that our founders wisely drew between church and state."

There are quite a few revisionist statements in that single quote.  Lets look at what our founders really said and believed for just a moment.

James Madison, the fourth president, known as The Father of Our Constitution' made the following statement:

"We have staked the whole of all our political Institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to The Ten Commandments of God."

"Give me liberty or give me death" Patrick Henry said the following about our founding principals:

"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Every session of congress has begun with a prayer. Since 1777 that prayer has been given by a government paid minister.

John Jay, Founding Father and first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, said:

"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."

There is an amazing battery of evidence that our country was founded as a Christian nation, based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and was intended not to establish a "state denomination" or abridge a persons right to practice their faith however they saw fit.  There was to be provisions to protect those from being forced to join a specific church or denomination, but there was always the implicit recognition that this was a Christian nation founded on christian principals.

Have you been to Washington D.C.?  You can't go to any monument or exhibit without seeing scripture verses engraved in the marble, or images of the Bible or 10 Commandments.  The lie of the "establishment clause" has been force fed to a generation of people who never read the works of the Founding Fathers.  This is a travesty and as a country where over 80% of the population believes in God we need to enforce and demand the protection, reverence and respect for our nations core values.

Obama is preparing to take a jack-hammer to the underlying foundation of our Christian American Society.

Yeah Man... I don't know. The founders put in the separation of Church and State not because they wanted the Lord out of government, but they didn't want one particular religious branch to have leadership and complete influence over our nation (like the European governments of the day)... the quote that you put up there seems pretty consistent with that, and doesn't feel like Obama is at all taking the Lord out of anything, just separating the Church from the Government, as the founders intended. But heck, I have been wrong before... :)

If you read through the Federalist Papers and the documents of the Founders, they always intended this to be a Christian Nation, and encouraged the people to hold fast the their first love, Jesus Christ.

The "Separation Clause", as it has come to be known, does not prohibit displays of the Christian Faith, or encouragement toward Christian values and ideas, it merely prohibits the "establishment" of a official state "religion" which at the time really meant "denomination".

Our Founding Fathers, would not recognize the mess that our current leadership has created with their original intent.
